Two girls stand outside of their home in a suburb of New Delhi, India. Both were born into a Dalit caste, the members of which are required to work as cleaners (disposing of dead bodies, street cleaning, waste management, etc.). The Dalit caste is the lowest on the Hindu caste system, so low that it is technically not even considered to be a caste at all. The Dalit people are often referred to and treated as "untouchable" within their culture.
