My Reel

"Wir Beten" Documentary

My cousin Justin Engberg and I are thrilled to announce the production of our documentary, which will tell the story of our grandparents' experiences in Nazi Germany before, during, and after World War II, and their subsequent struggles living as German refugees in the United States in the 1950s.
This has always been - and will continue to be - an emotional and deeply personal project for my entire family. This documentary has been a long time coming and a dream come true for me in particular, and both Justin and I are greatly looking forward to sharing it with the world.

Two girls stand outside of their home in a suburb of New Delhi, India. Both were born into a Dalit caste, the members of which are required to work as cleaners (disposing of dead bodies, street cleaning, waste management, etc.). The Dalit caste is the lowest on the Hindu caste system, so low that it is technically not even considered to be a caste at all. The Dalit people are often referred to and treated as "untouchable" within their culture.
